NEW DEAL FOR PRIVATE RENTERS PUBLISHED TODAY.....

NEW DEAL FOR PRIVATE RENTERS PUBLISHED TODAY.....

The department for levelling up and housing communities have today announced their plans which will change the face of the private rental sector as we know it....

We are yet to see when these changes will take place. How do you feel about this announcement as a Landlord or a Tenant? As Agents we can see the pitfalls immediately but understand why changes have to be made. Sadly there are private Landlords out there as well as rogue Letting Agents that have brought these proposed changes upon all of us.

  • The new blueprint for renters reform will end the injustice of unfit homes and help protect renters from the rising costs of living
  • It will ban section 21 ‘no-fault’ evictions and extend the Decent Homes Standard to the sector
  • it will end arbitrary rent review clauses, give tenants stronger powers to challenge poor practice, unjustified rent increases and enable them to be repaid rent for non-decent homes
  • It will be illegal for landlords or agents to have blanket bans on renting to families with children or those in receipt of benefits
  • It will be made easier for tenants to share their homes with much-loved pets

May’s House Price Index shows a seasonal uplift in asking prices, with the latest Rightmove data reporting a 1.2% increase since April. The national average asking price now stands at £378,304.
